Current Positions

Senior Dam Safety Engineer / Advisor, Permanent, Wellington

The Role

You will apply specialist expertise and experience in dam surveillance and dam safety programmes. You will lead dam safety inspections together with monitoring, analysing and reporting on a wide variety of dams, canals and associated hydraulic structures, in NZ and offshore. Analysis and interpretation of critical dam safety monitoring data is part of this role. You will liaise with key clients and supervise and mentor team members.

The Person

If you have a civil engineering, science or similar degree qualification, and a high level of analytical and interpretive skill applicable to civil engineering/geotechnical work, we have an opportunity in our Dam Safety Team.

We are looking for a minimum of 10-20 years dam safety/engineering experience, to fill a senior role.

Damwatch is a specialist dam engineering firm based on Courtenay Place, Wellington. We operate in New Zealand, Australia, the Pacific, Asia and North America monitoring and advising on over 50 concrete gravity, arch and embankment dams.

We are a team of 30+ civil, geotechnical and natural resource engineers, scientists and geologists. Our projects extend across dam safety, dam remedial fix solutions, feasibility and new dam design, dam instrumentation, canal and irrigation scheme engineering, wind data monitoring, wind farm civil developments and river engineering.

Dam Instrumentation Specialist, Permanent, Wellington

An opportunity to work on a diverse range of dam safety instrumentation solutions from concept and detailed design to implementation, maintenance and refurbishment with a specialist niche consultancy.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to deliver quality results and be prepared to work both on site and in the office. Experience with some or all of the following aspects are essential.:

  • A range of geotechnical instruments e.g. piezometers, inclinometers, temperature sensors etc.
  • Datalogger design and configuration
  • Communications protocols
  • Pneumatic piezometer diagnostics and maintenance
